Warranty Terms and Conditions
In this document, “Volkswagen”, “we”, “us”, “VGA” and “our” means Volkswagen Group Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 14 093 117 876) trading as Volkswagen Australia. Volkswagen operates the website https://store.volkswagen.com.au/ ("Website").
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage only to the extent legally permissible. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
The benefits conferred under this Volkswagen Store Warranty are in addition to any statutory rights or remedies that you may have, including under the Australian Consumer Law.
Warranty on Volkswagen Genuine Accessories
Subject to the below, and without limiting any other rights or remedies provided under the Australian Consumer Law, original Volkswagen Genuine Accessories purchased from Volkswagen Store carry a 24 month unlimited kilometre guarantee against manufacturing defects, commencing from the date of purchase from Volkswagen Store.
This Volkswagen Store Warranty entitles the owner to the following with respect to any goods purchased from the Volkswagen Store that suffer a minor manufacturing defect that does not qualify as a major failure (at the election of Volkswagen Australia):
- The replacement of any faulty or unusable Volkswagen Genuine Accessory; or
- The repair of any faulty or unusable Volkswagen Genuine Accessory.
Specific Warranty Exclusions
The above Volkswagen Store Warranties do not apply to the extent the manufacturing defect was caused by:
- The buyer not immediately providing an opportunity to make good upon the manufacturing defect becoming evident;
- The purchased item having been improperly installed, repaired, maintained or serviced whether within or outside of the Authorised Volkswagen Network. Please note that this does not affect any right or remedy you may have as against any person or entity who improperly installed, repaired, maintained or serviced the part;
- Non-approved customer modifications to Volkswagen Genuine Accessories from original manufacturer’s specifications;
- The item not conforming to local country specifications as a result of the item having been purchased offshore on a Third-party Website;
- Volkswagen Genuine Accessories not being fitted in accordance with the original manufacturer’s specifications;
- Accidents, driver error or abuse, neglect, lack of due care, driving technique, vehicle conversions or Force Majeure; and
- Natural wear and tear.
In this section, “Force Majeure” includes any cause beyond the control of Volkswagen that could not have reasonably foreseen by either party, including strike, industrial action, war, sabotage, terrorist activity, national emergency, pandemic, blockade or government action or inaction.
To the extent permitted by law:
- the purchaser is required to bear any expense incurred in exercising their rights under this Volkswagen Store Warranty; and
- this Volkswagen Store Warranty does not cover any indirect or consequential loss or damage, or any loss of profit, revenue, business or goodwill nor any cost arising out of the immobilisation of the vehicle.
How to make a claim
To make a claim under this Volkswagen Store Warranty when the goods were purchased from Volkswagen Store but not fitted to a vehicle by an Authorised Volkswagen Dealer, the goods and the original sales invoice from Volkswagen Store must be delivered by the purchaser at their expense to an Authorised Volkswagen Dealer.
To make a claim under this Volkswagen Store Warranty when the goods were purchased from Volkswagen Store and fitted by an Authorised Volkswagen Dealer, the vehicle to which the goods were fitted and the original sales invoice for the work performed when the goods were fitted must be delivered by the owner of the vehicle at their expense to an Authorised Volkswagen Dealer, and delivery of the vehicle after completion of the repair shall be taken by the owner at their expense at the workshop in question.
